Our Pre-school curriculum recognises that every child deserves the best possible start in their life at school. Our High Scope learning approach and assessment methodology promotes an active and student-centred approach to early learning where social play, creative arts and language development are seen as key building blocks. Specialist teachers plan and deliver engaging lessons across a range of subjects to ensure our youngest learners have a secure foundation of basic knowledge and understanding to build on as they progress up through the school. Students are exposed to Arabic, Islamic Studies, Social Studies and science, in a fun and engaging way.

Art, Physical Education and Library are set lessons scheduled in the timetable. Maths and language are brought to life though multi-sensory lessons, role-playing and experiential hands-on activities. ADL (Activities for Daily Living) are taught both in the classroom and in the lifeskills labs and kitchens. Therapy sessions focus on strategies the students need to learn in the classroom as a class and as an individual. These happen as therapists conduct both push-ins and pull-outs and teachers make sure that these skills and strategies are generalised to the classroom consistently.
By the end of Preschool, students have received the early intervention they need to transition to a mainstream school, or they continue on their journey in BISSE developing their school readiness, social and life skills.

Aine Clarke

Vice Principal KG & Elementary

Ireland is where I grew up, always playing school and wanting to be a teacher. I attended the University of Galway and qualified as a Geography and Irish teacher in 2011. I loved my time in the classroom and when curiosity got the better of me, I returned to University of Maynooth, to complete my Masters in Educational Leadership. I began my first leadership position in a starter residential school in Co. Galway. Before joining the team in Britus International School, Bahrain, I worked in the United Arab Emirates as an Deputy Cluster Manager- Academic Advisor.

During my time in Dubai, I led on educational reform and change management as well as establishing, developing and improving teaching and learning. I implemented a nationwide e-learning collaborative practice during the Covid-19 Pandemic. I believe in lifelong learning and I will model my ethos for the students, teachers and parents of BISBH. I am excited about this new chapter in BISBH and it is an honor to be involved in this educational journey.
