BISSE Center Program

Our onsite therapists: speech and language, occupational, behavior and physiotherapists work together to provide students with targeted therapy on a daily basis. The five-day-a-week program allows students to experience going to school and being part of the community, while still receiving personalized daily therapy sessions. Students arrive in the morning to greet their academic teachers for a morning greeting before they go off to their therapy sessions. After 4 sessions of therapy (2 hours) they join their teacher for a snack and some functional academic and life skills (1 hour). This 3-hour program allows the students time to adjust to school, learn social skills and possibly make the transition to a longer school day if the readiness skills are learned.

SEN teachers and behaviour therapists work on academic and school readiness skills. While therapists develop specific programmes around the goals and needs of each child. As a team, the therapists and teachers work on an IEP to make sure that the goals work together and that there is clear communication with the parents.

Centre students are involved and play a part in the school. They will hear and see assembly, work towards going on field trips, develop skills to join campus activities and celebrate all festivities.
